Meet Mrs. Fordham
My Family: My family is very important to me. I have a wonderful husband, Ken, and together we have four grown children and four grandchildren. Computers and art are very important to our family. Ken is a computer programmer; Kevin networks computers; and Joey designs websites. Ashley is in graduate school and has her own photography business, while Kelli just tries to keep up with our five grandchildren (all boys!).
Teaching Credentials: My teaching experience includes 23 years in Gwinnett schools - teaching fifth grade the past two years and middle school Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Theatre. I also have experience teaching high school English and Speech. My teaching credentials include a Specialist in Education (concentration in gifted ed. and math) from Mercer University, a Masters in Education (concentration in science) from Brenau University, and a BFA in Speech from Valdosta State University. Some of my interesting summer jobs have included GIFT fellowships at Scientific-Atlanta, Georgia Tech, and Zoo Atlanta. GIFT is a program at Georgia Tech that places teachers in businesses and science organizations so that we can transfer the experience to our classroom. I especially enjoyed videotaping orangutans for distance learning and conducting behavioral research with free-ranging Golden Lion Tamarins at Zoo Atlanta.
My Favorites: Community projects close to my heart are Relay for Life and divorce recovery classes for children. In my leisure time, I LOVE to read historical fiction and mysteries. My favorite restaurant is McKinnon's Louisiane in Buckhead (first date restaurant with my husband). My favorite movie is Sleepless in Seattle (saw it on the first date with my husband). My favorite TV shows are Hawaii Five-0, NCIS, CSI and Blue Blood - notice a theme? My favorite all-time project has been video production with my drama teacher friends. My favorite vacation spot is Honolulu, Hawaii. My favorite school system is Gwinnett, and my favorite school is Fort Daniel Elementary, of course!
